Menopause Symptoms - Heart Palpitations

A woman, who sometimes feels her heart racing or missing a beat could have menopause heart palpitations. This is due to a drop in hormone production which can affect both heart rate and frequency in palpitations, and cause non-threatening arrhythmia.

In most cases, palpitations associated with menopause are not an indication of heart problems. Palpitations often go away after several months, but even they can recur from time to time.

Common causes of heart palpitations include:

  • Alcohol

  • Caffeine

  • Pseudoephedrine – a stimulant in decongestants.

  • Dehydration - causing an electrolyte embalance.

  • Phentermine - ephedrine, and caffeine in diet pills.

  • Emotional stress - hich releases adrenaline.

  • Hormonal changes

  • Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) - especially when first beginning treatment.

  • Monosodium glutamate - in Chinese food, processed foods, canned vegetables, canned soups, and processed meats.

  • Nicotine

 

Lifestyle factors are extremely important when it comes to heart health, and with a few lifestyle adjustments, you can make a big improvement to your health. This does not mean drastic change, but rather small changes that you can easily add into your life each day. In time, the change will be vast. Here are a few simple basics to follow a

 

A little exercise each and every day. Watch your food choices and make sure that you include fresh vegetables. Please avoid too much saturated fat. Try cutting down on takeaway’s and fried foods. Have them once a week instead of two or three times a week.
