What is Burning Mouth Syndrome?
Burning Mouth Syndrome is more common in older women, particularly menopausal women. As the hormone estrogen decreases it can reduce saliva production, this can cause a metallic taste in the mouth, and also trigger a burning sensation. Some menopausal women also experience greater sensitivity to mouth pain.
