Menopause Symptoms - Burning Mouth

What is Burning Mouth Syndrome?

Burning Mouth Syndrome is more common in older women, particularly menopausal women. As the hormone estrogen decreases it can reduce saliva production, this can cause a metallic taste in the mouth, and also trigger a burning sensation. Some menopausal women also experience greater sensitivity to mouth pain.

Top tips to help with Burning Mouth Syndrome:

  • The first point of call is your GP

  • Drink more water and certainly include herbal teas as opposed to caffeinated drinks.

  • Clean up your food choices generally and avoid poor nutrition.
