Why do we suffer vaginal dryness during menopause?

This symptom in particular is not spoken about openly which is a fair point & I certainly understand why. But we must address it so that we are able to embrace our menopause successfully. Vaginal dryness is the genitourinary syndrome of menopause,. You may know it as atrophic vaginitis or vaginal atrophy. When estrogen declines the vaginal tissues become thinner and more easily irritated.

Top tips to help with Vaginal Dryness:

Sex: Use natural water based lubricants during sex, speak to your partner so they understand. Try using natural vaginal lubricants such as Aloe Vera, coconut oil, jojoba and vitamin E.

Exercise Professionals: Remember to eat regularly, drink plenty of water, make nutrition packed food choice and exercise regularly. Include pelvic floor exercises and deep breathing. Always seek the help of a profession if you are unsure of where to start. Get more rest and supplement to boost your energy!

Medical Advice: Best to seek your doctors advice or speak to your gynaecologist. They may suggest a low-dose vaginal estrogen cream, tablet or ring, to reinvigorate vaginal tissues. Even if you're using HRT or patches, your doctor might recommend a low-dose vaginal estrogen treatment if vaginal dryness and related symptoms persist.
