Post Menopause

What happens post menopause?

Once you are postmenopausal, your hormone levels will remain at a constant low level. You will no longer be able to become pregnant, and you will not experience monthly menstrual cycles.

You may be at increased risk for the following conditions after menopause:

  • osteoporosis

  • cardiovascular disease

  • depression and other mental health conditions

  • changes in vaginal health, such as vaginal dryness

Adopting healthy lifestyle habits and checking in with your doctor regularly will help you manage your risk factors for these conditions.

Top tips for post menopausal women:

1. Exercise more 20 minutes a day is sufficient to keep you heart health and your muscles strong. Use resistance based exercise for to help improve your bone density.


2. Eat health food low in salt and saturated fats. Avoid refined sugars and processed foods.


3. Reduce alcohol, narcotics and smoking.


4. Calcium and Vitamin D supplements are important for bone health so be sure to include them (as your doctor for advice)
